“TRY NOT; DO OR DO NOT; There is no try .” ~ Yoda from StarWars
If your mind-set is that you will “try” to do something, you are setting yourself up for failure by admitting that failing is an option.
So the best way to succeed is to eliminate the option of failing in your mind. That’s the point Yoda is trying to make when he says “there is no try.”
He means, take the option of failing out of the equation. Luke is unable to do this, and thus is unable to lift the ship with his mind. After he fails, Yoda easily moves the ship out of the swamp with his mind, to prove it can be done. Upon seeing this, Luke says “I can’t believe it,” to which Yoda responds: “That is why you fail.” You must believe that you can do something in order to succeed. Don’t just “try” to do it.
